Exhibition: FOUND ADRIFT | Timeless new works inspired by an 1876 seaweed scrapbook
Local AIGA Fellow, Ron Miriello, has created an extensive series of art pieces and installations called Found Adrift | Timeless new works inspired by an 1876 seaweed scrapbook. A special opening of Found Adrift will be held for one night only in San Diego’s dynamic Barrio Logan Arts District on December 6th from 6-10pm. The former Woodbury School of Architecture building is being transformed into a creative collaborative called Studio Culture, where 50+ artwork pieces will be exhibited, including a video created by Rome-based photographer Renato Cerisola, along with DJ music, a local food truck, beer, coffee and great people like you!

Frankie Margotta
Margotta finds inspiration throughout San Diego, and appreciates the vastness of the city, the creativity of its residents and the many sub-cultures within it. Frankie pursued his BA in Visual Communications from Savannah College of Art and Design while on active duty as a Special Operator for the U.S. Military, a position he held for eleven years. He sees his AIGA membership as a catalyst of inspiration, and has found that his AIGA connections have helped him to feel more at home within our diverse creative community. Margotta is a sneakerhead and coffee addict and is always on the hunt for both.

Abby brings more than 20 years of experience to the table as a brand, design and mass communications professional. Based in Encinitas, California, she specializes in identity and strategy and teaches graphic design at Pacific Ridge School. Miller’s career has been guided by a common thread of curiosity, communication and connection. She most loves the diversity of industries, cultures and disciplines that design reaches and influences, recognizing that design is a driver of meaningful change. Abby feels fortunate to have connected with talented designers and creative firms throughout San Diego and Tijuana throughout her AIGA membership and Y-Conference attendance over the years. Most recently, Abby began exploring pottery as a new artistic outlet. In this hobby, she’s been reminded that the process of creation is not exclusively dependent on the outcome.

Molly is at the beginning of her career in web development for which she recently completed studies at UCSD Extension. An extensive background in visual arts, her creative discipline is grounded in jewelry design and object making. In 2018, she completed her MFA at San Diego State University.

Born and raised in San Diego, California, Kassandra has had a front-row seat to the impact of design at a young age alongside her mother and aunt, MaeLin and Amy Levine, owners of Visual Asylum. Their design influence enhanced her passion for branding, packaging and environmental design. Kassandra is a part-time designer and full-time student at San Diego City College.
