Intrépido Speaker Series featuring Richard Danne of Danne & Blackburn and NASA fame
by AIGA San Diego Tijuana
\ March 19, 2025
In a special installment of our quarterly speaker series, we are pleased to host Richard Danne, the creative mind behind NASA's unforgettable "worm" logo. The logo designed by Danne & Blackburn in 1976 was recently added to the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection along with the NASA graphic standards manual. The NASA project is among many other iconic projects included in Richard Danne’s new book Shooting for the Stars, Six Decades of Timeless Design. Not only is Richard well known for his laudable design career, he's also recognized for his commitment to design leadership. He served as AIGA national board president (1977–79) followed by two years as founding president of the New York chapter at a time when there were only two other chapters (Cleveland and Washington, D.C.) Sean Adams said "Richard can be considered the father of AIGA chapters." Copies of Richard's latest book will be for sale at the event and Richard will be available to sign your copy after the presentation.
