Watch Now: Panel Discussion on Collaboration, Connection and Community
AIGA San Diego was invited to shine a light on our Design for Good platform and to engage the broader design community through a panel discussion during OH! San Diego 2021, presented by the San Diego Architectural Foundation. In our continuing effort to advance design as a profession and to build stronger ties to local and regional design focused organizations, we jumped at this request.
How do we foster partnerships between individuals to create something new, something better? How can we open doors in our own work to connect and lift up members of the community?
On March 9th, 2021, we set out to ruminate these questions and hear from community members in various professions across the city on the power of collaboration in a live panel discussion on Zoom. If you weren’t able to attend, or would like to tune in again, the recording of the ‘Collaboration, Connection, Community’ session is now available below.
Panelists include:
Ashanti Davis, Exhibition Manager at Fleet Science Center
Genevieve DePerio Fong, Logistics Team at Medical Operations Center – County of San Diego
Don Hollis, Founder/Creative Director of Hollis Brand Culture
The panelists were joined by AIGA San Diego board members, Marc Hedges, President, Stephanie Elliott, Vice President, Allan Manzano, Director of Education, and Kamille Franchomme, Design for Good Co-Director (Women Lead), to moderate the discussion.
“I applaud AIGA San Diego for bringing to the forefront such critical issues and fundamental elements of creation, design and implementation. Without these 3 C’s [Collaboration, Connection, Community], we lack the larger purpose and heart of what makes healthy and vibrant places and spaces.” —Genevieve DePerio Fong, Panelist
“How can we build upon Collaboration, Connection, and Community within Design and create spaces, opportunities, and experiences that are inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible? Now is the time for these discussions but it is also the time for action!” —Ashanti Davis, Panelist
“This was an important and necessary discussion. I am poignantly reminded we must keep our eyes and minds open, working together to do more each and every day to lift each other up.” —Don Hollis, Panelist
We hope you enjoy listening to what the panelists had to say, and we look forward to continuing this conversation. Feel free to share this page with your friends and colleagues!
