LINK San Diego is busy at this time of year with workshops with the LINK students on Saturday mornings at Space4Art in downtown’s East Village. A recent workshop was chalkboard typography led by Dane Danner of Yeller Studio. (Be sure to check out the Yeller show opening this Friday night at Subtext Gallery.)
“The kids learned all sorts of things including kerning, which they were really excited about,” said LINK director Karen Morrison of Karen Morrison Photography. “Dane has done chalkboard art for some local breweries and he talked a little bit about the business part in addition to just the typography.”
LINK is an AIGA San Diego program that connects teens in need with artists and creative professionals, encouraging expression, creativity and self-esteem through innovative workshops and educational scholarships. Working professionals in the design, photography, illustration, and other creative fields teach workshops for the students.
LINK is made possible through the generosity of The Richard and Jean Coyne Family Foundation.
