Our LINK program provides free art and design workshops for high school students around the city.
This last month the LINK students learned about two perspectives from the comic book industry—Joel Gomez who works exclusively analog, and Beth Sotelo who mixes analog and digital tools into her process.
For the workshop with Joel, the students focused on telling a one page story through layout and communicating an idea. Students were encouraged to break out of the boxes that are commonly used in comic panels. In our workshop with Beth, we focused more on her experience as a colorist and developing her own comic. We talked about what defines a character and what defines a style.
If you know a high school student who might benefit from attending free art and design workshops online please encourage them to apply at: https://www.aigalink.org/
