Submission period has ended.

Submit a Design for Projecting Futures

Be part of the first-ever San Diego Design Week, Sept. 9–13th 2020. AIGA San Diego wants to partner with San Diego and Tijuana designers to present Projecting Futures, a visual display featuring 2D graphic works.

What is Design Week?

San Diego Design Week is an annual five-day series of events celebrating San Diego’s diverse design community.

The week will include events, exhibitions, workshops, and talks featuring all design disciplines—from architecture, interior design, and landscape design to graphic design, fashion, technology, and more. Everyone’s invited. Join the conversation and experience the creativity that defines our region as we look ahead to the future.

What is Projecting Futures?

Projecting Futures is an evening showcase presented by AIGA San Diego that will showcase our home city and region to be diverse, vibrant, and innovative.

The façade of a local building will transform into a large outdoor digital canvas and will project a collection of original art by San Diego and Tijuana designers. The show will run every evening during San Diego Design Week, Sept. 9–13th from 8 pm until 9 pm. Viewing is free and showings run in 30-minute intervals.

Theme

Your work should capture our theme: Projecting Futures. In digital art form, express an uplifting and positive message of hope for our future, while elevating the value of graphic design as a profession through the impact of your visuals. What does your vision for the future look like? What does it feel like? Consider sharing with the audience how they can affect change within their communities. Don’t limit yourself: your message of hope can be about you, the community, country, or beyond.

Entry Process

Paid entries are greatly appreciated, and will help offset costs and support AIGA San Diego’s community work. We recognize the current challenges and we believe this should be accessible to all. We are suggesting “pay what you can”; $25-$40, with $40 being the true cost. If you are unable to pay the entry fee at this time and wish to enter, you can select our “fee waived” option. You will receive all the benefits of a paid entry.
