AIGA San Diego Tijuana presents UNITE: Design for a Better World
The student-led event, UNITE, will proudly host a discussion with the father of UX Design, Don Norman, on February 16th at the Urban Discovery Academy to discuss his topics from his new upcoming book, Design for a Better World.
Don Norman; “University professor, Industry executive, consultant, keynote speaker, and author.”
Don Norman’s influence and expertise can be felt by everyone. His influence in research based user-experience is outstanding, creating the basis for what we know as UX design today. He helped found and was the director of UCSD's Design Lab for seven years. He co-founded and is now emeritus at the Nielsen Norman group. Norman has been a VP at Apple, an HP executive, involved with multiple universities, been on boards, and has been awarded multiple honors.
All of these expertise and experiences have culminated in different aspects of his life, and now presents new perspectives and ways of thinking about design through his new book, Design for a Better World. He brings into perspective that our world is artificial – designed to please our human needs without any regard of what is here naturally – and how we can design in a way that helps us break from the damage that we have caused and improve our well being.
