A JOURNEY THROUGH MEXICO’S MUSIC MURAL ADVERTISING

Presented in conjunction with KANBAN – Traditional Shop Signs of Japan, Patricia Cué, Associate Professor of Graphic Design at SDSU, explores the design, craft and value of a colorful and unique form of advertising from Mexico that demonstrates the essential connection between signs, public spaces and culture. Patricia will describe the adventures and process that led to her book Bardas de Baile: Mexican Wall Painting and share her passion for sign painting and other forms of vernacular design.
