Join us for an inspirational evening with Polish-American designer, SEGD Fellow and author, Jan Lorenc. Jan will take us on a journey from his early life in rural Poland to acclaimed designer, leading a thriving team of architects, graphic designers, sculptors, interior designers, and industrial designers in his Atlanta design firm, Lorenc+Yoo Design. The firm is responsible for award-winning museum spaces, trade show exhibits, sculptures, wayfinding and placemaking for renowned clients including Delta, the Mayo Clinic, Sony, Hyatt, Samsung, UPS, and many others.
Lorenc immigrated with his parents to the United States from rural Poland at age eight. He earned degrees in industrial design and visual design from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and in architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology. As a professor Jan has taught at the renowned Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta and has been an adviser to the School of Design at Georgia Tech. He is a frequent lecturer in the United States, China and Korea. Jan is also co-author of the definitive museum and exhibit design textbook — “What Is Exhibition Design?” — which has been translated and published in Chinese, Russian, Korean, and his native tongue Polish.
In 2017, Jan was named SEGD Fellow, sharing the organization’s highest honor with the likes of Paula Scher, Massimo Vignelli, Lance Wyman, Deborah Sussman, Robert Venturi, Ivan Chermayeff, and David Gibson, among others.
