  • 2017 AIGA San Diego Open Board Positions Nominations

    We want you! We're looking for design professionals who have a passion for community, our craft and shaping our Chapter for the next generation. You can nominate yourself, or someone else!

    AIGA San Diego is accepting Board of Director nominations through April 30, 2017.

    All nominees are required to be a member of AIGA if elected to a position. Each director is elected to serve and represent the entire membership of AIGA San Diego to the best of their ability, in accordance with the AIGA mission and the description of the board position. The term for each director is a minimum of two years, but may be reelected and serve additional terms. Attendance at board meetings is required (1 per month). If the director is unable to attend, a notice accompanied by a monthly report must be submitted prior to the meeting. Attendance of the annual chapter retreat in June is required. Directors shall not receive any compensation or remuneration for their services as directors, with the exception of chapter reimbursement for reasonable expenses.

    Open positions:

    The President provides vision and guidance for the development of the chapter, ensuring that the chapter goals and activities are in alignment with those of our mission, local bylaws, and those of the National organization. Provide leadership and governance for the board and the membership. Oversee day-to-day administration of the chapter.

    Development Co-Director
    The Development Co-Directors work together to foster relationships with outside organizations that provide financial and in-kind support for chapter programming and activities.

    Education Director
    The Education Director manages and facilitates connections with Student Leaders from all AIGA San Diego Student Chapters.

    Social Media Director
    The Social Media Director creates and adapts content for chapter events, promotions and announcements, including the Y Design Conference social platforms. This position also manages curating and sharing events, updates, findings and current news in the local, national and global creative community on a weekly basis. Content includes design, copywriting and curation for each specific platform, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram primarily.

    Email Marketing Director
    Responsible for promoting all chapter and conference events and communications to membership and email database via MailChimp. Collaborates with the Communications team, Event Co-Directors, Membership Director and Y Conference Director to coordinate content and revisions to ensure accuracy across all communications platforms.

    Creative Copywriting Director
    The Copywriting Director is responsible for our written communication, ensuring that the voice of our chapter is professional, appropriate, and engaging. These communications primarily include event and conference blurbs, email marketing copy, and blog posts.

    Community Outreach Director
    Community liaison for AIGA San Diego with local and nearby creative communities. Works with the Communications Team to facilitate joint promotion efforts for all involved organizations and the Director of Event Programming to facilitate a partnership for any event.

    Y Design Conference Director
    Oversees and provides leadership for the Annual Y Design Conference. Responsible for working with the Chapter Administrator for tasks including:
    • Volunteer Committee Recruitment, Guidance and Support
    • Budget
    • Conference plan, scope and layout
    • Sponsorship
    • Venue logistics, including catering, AV/audio
    • Speaker research, outreach and commitment
    • Manage Communications Team/Studio, including graphics, copywriting and marketing
    • Any unfulfilled committee role

    Design for Good Director
    The Design for Good Director will manage a small committee who will host one event per year, focusing on creating positive social impact through design. The Design for Good committee will reach out to local organizations who could benefit from the efforts of the AIGA San Diego Design for Good team and choose one organization per year. The committee will create, plan and manage each project.
